Sandy Creek Covered Bridge in Summer by

The bridge is located near Goldman Missouri, just off of HWY 21, about 30 miles south of St. Louis Missouri. It was originally built in 1872 then rebuilt after being badly damaged by a flood in 1886. Using part of the original materials the bridge was rebuilt at a cost of $899. It is 74 feet 6 inches long, 18 feet 10 inches wide and has an entrance height of 13 feet. The flooring is made of 2X6 inch oak boards set so the end of the boards are the surface of the bridge floor (like in a butcher block)

Isn’t it amazing what a difference a season can make! This is gorgeous! I am assuming it is the same bridge as your earlier shot. I love the colours perspective and composition of this picture Byron!

  • Yes, it is 10 miles from Julie’s school I had to go twice because the first time was a week after a monster flash flood and they had the park closed to clean it up. I think it looks so much better in this image.

I really love this!! I love Covered Bridges yet have none anywhere near me! :(

  • There are only three left in missouri using this Howe -truss construction, They have all been turned into State parks. I have actually driven across this one in my car years ago. Thanks for the favorite.

Again, I like the angle on this shot. Lovely contrast of colours too.
