The Old Jail by barnsis

Available to buy on…

The roof is gone but the bars are still in place. The only thing they imprison now is the wild growth of plants.

This sits out in the country all by itself beside a county road less than a mile from the Mississippi River. It is about 20 miles south of St. Louis Missouri. I have been told by locals that it was built before the civil war and was used mainly to imprison slaves who were waiting to be sold and moved up or down the Mississippi River.

Great picture! Today, a good Sears hammer and you would be out of there in 17mins flat!

  • Even in my old aged and dilapidated physical state I could climb over the top, or I could just walk out the back ( there is no back wall he he)
