The Great Forest Park Balloon Race, celebrating its 41st anniversary this year, is unique in that it originates from the middle of a major city, St. Louis, Missouri. Attendance is free to more than 150,000 spectators who come out to watch 70 world-class balloon pilots compete in a race that is almost as exciting from the ground as it is in the air. We were in street side parking on the first street south of Forest Park where the balloons took off from. I don’t know about 70 balloons because I thought we stayed until after they were all in the air and I took photos of every balloon to rise from the park. There are 34 balloons in this composite photo so I don’t know where the rest of them are.
I made a sky colored base image 10000X10000 pixels then added 34 layers to this base image, one balloon at a time. I didn’t want to post one image after another, what can you say after you have commented on one balloon, so I decided to show them all this way!
All images take with Nikon D90 with Nikkor 300mm lens on auto focus.
