The Great Forest Park Balloon Race was celebrating its 41st anniversary this year on September 21. It is unique in that it originates from the middle of a major city, St. Louis, Missouri. Attendance is free to more than 150,000 spectators who come out to watch 70 world-class balloon pilots compete in a race that is almost as exciting from the ground as it is in the air. We were there and took photos of every one of the balloons as they flew up from the park and drifted south east with the prevailing winds. They do not all go up at the same time so photographically it is not possible from the ground to take an image of all of them or even most of them. So those of you who know me can guess what I am working on but it is such a large multiple image endeavor that it will take a while to complete. So this is your preview of things to come.
