Male Ruby Throated Hummingbird ~ Please read description by

I had about stopped trying to take photos of these little guys because I had cataracts on both of my eyes and just could not focus the camera well enough to get many good shots. I was averaging maybe 5 good images out of 200 last summer. I have had my cataracts removed, bought a new Nikon D90 so I went out yesterday at our home here in Southeast Missouri and tried my hand (eyes) at it again. I got 6 good images out of 20!!!

Nikon D90 with Nikkor 300mm lens on maunal focus.

just gorgeous a shot Byron, love the wings.
nice isn’t it to see properly. Mine took 2 years to settle ,did you know it only costs around AU 20 to do cataract ops in third world countries by the Fred Hollows foundation volunteer people? Some people here [private practice ]charge AU $6000.00 each.

  • Thank you Gini, The insurance paid for mine fully but the surgery center charged $7000 and the Dr charged 3000 of which the insurance paid the surgery center 1500 and the Dr. 600 (:>) The games they play!!!

Maybe when they did your cataract surgery, they also added a little patience. Do you need glasses now? This is up to your standards, a fabulous shot….love the way this hummer looks like he is dive bombing something. Wonderful capture, Bro!

  • Thank you Sis, This guy was coming in for a hove feeding and was just inches away from the feeder. I use glassed for reading in low light but don’t even have to have them in good light. I don’t use then on the computer at all. I can even see where the golf ball goes now (:>)
