Why is she taking that photo? by

On the street in Kolkata. The two on the right were very anxious to make me pay for this photo, even though they had nothing to do with the others. I walked on.

A superb shot and image Val! So much activity in the one scene and excellent tonal range to set it off, as well as the natural framing around the edges! One of your best!

  • You’re the best, Bruce! Thanks so much for your wonderful comment! :-) val

…should also have added, really tells a story or two which again is one of its great strengths.

So much to see here… wonderful shot!

Your story, and the body language of the boy on the right, remind me of people I met (young boys, mostly) in various places (Yemen, Southern Turkey, Pakistan) who just kept trying to get themselves in the picture – literally. They picked the wrong victim: I always have more patience than they do. :)

  • Too funny! That’s actually a woman! lol! They can look less polished on the street…Thanks so much, Marjolein! :-)

that should be stories and depth :-)

  • Thank you so much, Andrew! It was the only shot I got and was quite pleased! Sometimes street subjects are so cooperative! hehe. :-))

Oops. I thought it was a boy… But it being a woman, could that actually be the reason they were demanding payment? Thinking you were singling her out? All the other people seem to be men (to me, at least ;)).

  • Honestly, it’s different on the street in India. The poor just want to cash in on foreigners any chance they can… :-(
