These trees are still standing, 11 months after Volcan Pacaya erupted in Guatemala. Much destruction was caused, people were evacuated from their homes, and strong storms which caused massive mudslides resulted. It was very hard times for many poverty-stricken indigenous people in the areas at the base of the volcano. Even the city, an hour away suffered toxic air volcanic ash in every direction.     Wonderful….makes me think of our southern states ( one of which I am from…but was not affected) here in the US that just recently suffered from devastating tornadoes. Yet..people pick up their lives and help their neighbors and simply go on. This is a lovely image to those people who will never give up….
