Las Salinas de Maras are salt pans in near Urubamba in the Sacred Valley of the Incas in Peru. The salt is obtained by evaporating salty water from a nearby underground stream in the sun. This process has been carried out since pre-Inca times. Here, a Peruvian woman works on her salt pan.
