She was nine years old, was not in school, and hustled tourists during the day. Met her in a passageway on the way to another path that day. Her humble home of 2 rooms for her 5 member family was through a small door in this passageway. Her eyes spoke with a strength far beyond her years. I imagined, she’d seen plenty on the street in all of her 9 years in the small town of Bhaktapur, Nepal. ©2012 Valerie Rosen; All rights reserved.

Her eyes say it all; even with her face in shadow, her eyes light up with wisdom.

  • Thanks so much, Mui-Ling. Yes, her eyes are loaded…for such a young person…happy weekend! :-)

Such a serious gaze from such a little girl! Evidently she has seen much more than is appropriate for her age! Excellent street portrait!

I am saving up for a D7000! Heard really good things about it and all the shots taken I have seen were excellent. What type of lens did you use for this image Valerie?
