Scraggly Tree - Winter by BarbL

This tree sits on a hill along M-46 in Michigan just west of Edmore. It is my Mother’s favorite tree so I’ve captured it in a couple different seasons as you can see in the sidebar. This quickly became my favorite shot of it!

EXQUISITE, my friend…. this is a marvelous tree… what a wonderful shape it has… and love that you have the same tree in different seasons!!! LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!

  • I would love to get it in Fall but when I went by it, the leaves were just a dull brown…it looked rather sad so I didn’t take the shot. I may next year, though. Thanks so very much…you’re such a great friend!

Love the contrast of season with this monster of a tree Barb ~ Interesting project and concept

  • Thanks, Rickster…it has been fun catching it each season. I only hope the people who live in the house don’t end up calling the cops on me for trespassing!! LOL!

This tree makes me think of a Bonsai tree because of its shape.
I love the way the snow sticks to the trunk and branches giving it an appearance of wearing a camouflage uniform.
This really is a splendid tree and you have done it justice in your photos through the seasons (Autumn / fall next?).

  • Thank you so much for such a wonderful comment! I will definitely try to get a fall shot. I think I need the complete set! I really appreciate your comments!

Wonderful image, this old tree has so much character and you have done it justice.

  • I may have to go up to the door and knock at the house and ask about it one of these days. Maybe make a copy of one of the photos for them. I love to learn more about the tree. Thanks so much, dear bro and thanks also for making this a Favorite! I really appreciate it!

    Excellent shot!
My great grandmother told me when I was little, that a tree or small circle of trees, out in a field by itself was called a “Fairy Fort”.
She said that at night, fairies would come out and play under these trees. This, she said came from the olden days in Ireland.

  • What a great story…I love it! I’m Irish I after reading this, I think I remember my grandmother saying something like that too. Thank you so much for sharing that and leaving such a wonderful comment, Pete!
