Werewolf Moon by BarbL

Canvas Prints

Available to buy on…

That’s what the kids said to call it as they walked by while I was photographing it….very low in the sky and orange. Amazing moon tonight!

This is actually known as a “Full Worm Moon” and according to the Farmer’s Almanac, "As the temperature begins to warm and the ground begins to thaw, earthworm casts appear, heralding the return of the robins. For this reason, the March full moon is often known as the Full Worm Moon.

Northern Native American tribes knew this moon as the Full Crow Moon when the cawing of crows signaled the end of winter. They also used Full Crust Moon because the snow cover became crusted from thawing by day and freezing at night.

The Dakota Sioux named it Moon When Eyes Are Sore From Bright Snow. The Full Sap Moon, marking the time of tapping maple trees, is a Colonial American variation. To the settlers, it was also known as the Lenten Moon. It was considered to be the last full moon of winter."

Taken from my front porch in Muskegon, Michigan.

Love it sis, I almost went out early this morning and took one very nearly the same but got sidetracked with computer setup work. Excellent work.

  • I happened to glance out as I was walking by the window, quick grabbed the camera and tripod. As I stood on the front porch snapping a couple teenagers walked by…so I asked them. They laughed…nice kids! Most the images had too much movement but this one turned out okay….lucky shot!!
