Silver Lake Dunes on Lake Michigan by

The tire tracks give you a perspective of how huge these dunes are. They divide Silver Lake from Lake Michigan. To walk across them would take about four hours of what would feel like desert. We’ve done it many times only to fall into Lake Michigan upon arrival!!

You live in such a beautiful area Barb and you capture this very well (is this near Sleeping Bear dunes?)

  • It is about an hours ride south of Sleeping Bear Dunes, Mariola. Have you been there? I agree…I live in a beautiful place…I love it here! Thank you so much for the wonderful comment!

i thought it was a desert at first Barb, its fantastic.x

  • Thank you so much, Catherine! When you’re hiking across, it really does feel like a desert. The sand gets so hot it burns your feet so you have to wear shoes…that quickly get filled with sand! Thanks so much for the comment….I really appreciate it!

this is a lovely pic, barb…. the “waves” in the sand, caused by wind? or water? the rough area toward the middle of the pic… and the beautiful dune in the background… and the very pastel colors in the sky…. all around a fab pic. barb

  • Everything you see, sans the tire tracks, was caused by the wind off of Lake Michigan (which would be toward the right side of the photo). Who knows what is under the rough section…you never know…could be a large piece of driftwood even…but you have to wait for the wind to do its job! Thank you for such a wonderful comment…you know I always look forward to what you see!
