Black squirrel was climbing down the tree when I called out….he stopped only for a moment…just long enough for me to snap this shot!

Awesome image, these are very rare, I have seen grey, red, white and one that was a mix of all colors but never seen a black one before, heard of them but never seen them. Love how it is upside down.
Up here they aren’t quite as common as the gray or red squirrels but we do have lots of them. They are a bit smaller and tend to be the meanest and very territorial. Thanks, Byron!

i’ve never seen a black squirrel either..i’ve never even heard of one!! or a white one, byron… lol… but barb, this is a fantastic capture!!! and such a beautiful animal… sorry to hear they are mean!! hugs, barb
I suppose, because they’re smaller, they make up for it in “bravado”!! He was pretty funny scaring off the other squirrels! Thanks so much…always appreciate your responses!

Great capture Barb, I have never seen a black one before, beautiful.
Thanks…they really are beautiful….and a bit smaller than the others. This was the first one I’ve seen come all the way into my neighborhood.

oooh very nice. I have never seen a black one, even when I was living in Europe where they have lots of brown ones. this is new for me, thanks for sharing
We only have a few black ones where I live although they seem to be mating with the grey ones so we’re getting some very interesting ones! Thanks so much for the comment…I appreciate it!
