What a sad past few days we have had – our Peanut the Chihuahua, aka The Pinster, Mr Pinny, our little mate et al, has left us and gone to doggy heaven. He was 12 doggy years old and had a heap of health problems, and we had to make that awful decision about his quality of life. It’s the flipside of the love and fun you share with these adorable creatures over their lifetime – the anguish and guilt and pain you feel when the time comes for you to say goodbye. He went peacefully, with a bellyful of chicken (he was a little greedy boy right to the end) and with lots of tears and kisses from us. Goes without saying we will miss him to bits but he is in a pain free, happy place now. Goodbye Pinny mate, we love you. 12 July 2011.

I live in the beautiful Adelaide Hills of South Australia which are a constant inspiration to me in my photography. As an observer of nature and the world around around me, I find many subjects here which I try to portray in an artistic and interesting way. Please contact me if there are any of my images you wish to purchase or otherwise use.

Oh! Barb I am so sorry for you in your time of loss. We are currently dealing with a 15 yo. JR with health problems and not knowing quite what to do. Taking it day by day so I understand the pain. Lovely photograph of your little boy. :(

Aw, Barb, I’m so sorry! What a beautiful little dog. I know the sadness you are feeling, as I’ve been in the same situation.

Barb, you might want to check out a group called The Rainbow Bridge Group. My Abby Rose comes under November, and I have a poem about her in Writings. It’s just been a comfort to belong to that group.

Oh Barb. Our deepest condolensces. We met little Peanut and he won our hearts. I know you, Lance and Bel will be feeling much pain right now, but you did what was best and right to do. Hugs from your Sydney family :)

My friends lost their dog yesterday.
We know, when we accept the responsibility for them, that their life spans, just a fraction of our decades, will lead to this dreadful day. The day when our tears in seconds would fill the Marianas Trench and Grand Canyon combined. But we do it willingly, happily and joyfully, knowing that we provide a safe, comfortable, exciting, interesting and wonderful life for them.
They ask little, give so much and we reap the bountiful harvest of their unstinting love and devotion. AND we get to go walkies. What better way to spend a few hours, out in the fresh air, watching your dog enjoy life as only an enthusiastic dog can?
My friends lost their dog yesterday.
I weep with and for them and know that in time, one day, there will be a break in the dark cloud, a tiny bright light will shine and they will again begin to smile through their tears.
One day, that tiny bright light will allow them to smile and laugh, when they remember the silly, delightful, fun times they shared.
My friends lost their dog yesterday.
Now I wrap them in a big blanket of love and affection.

So sorry, Barb. As you say, it is the horrible flipside of sharing life with these bundles of love. My best wishes to you and Lance. xxx

My dear Barb & Lance. My thoughts are with you.
