A bit old and shabby, but a classic which still belts out a great polka, this is my accordion. It’s been with me since Mother made me take lessons when I was 11, but she owned it for years before that. And yes, I can still play. I recently pulled my trusty old friend out and gave her a tinkering for some sticky keys, and with help from hubby Lance and some RD40 lubricant, she plays sweet as ever. Not everyone likes accordion music, but as it is part of my European heritage, I am very proud of it. And I when I play it certainly wakes the whole household up … not to mention the neighbourhood dogs …..
Great shots of it Barb and lovely presentation. You’ll have to play it for us some time. I used to play one a long time ago but I sold mine before moving to SA.
Beautiful capture and memories. I played one too, but couldn’t wait to get rid of it when I was twenty. I started at ten years of age on lessons. I liked other instruments better, but always admired those who played it much better than I. ;o)
Yes it’s funny how we can’t wait to stop playing certain instruments because they are not “cool” – I went on to play piano and electric organ but I still love the accordion!
Wonderful presentation Barb – and I can’t WAIT to hear you play!!! Bring it to Pt Willy perhaps?? We can watch the sun go down to a rousing polka perhaps LOL
