As a small child, I would draw and color and shut out the world. My mother never knew where I was because, even when she called, I wouldn’t answer. I was so absorbed in my efforts.
As a young mother, I would paint or draw and find my cares and troubles just melting away for those few hours that were mine alone.. the husband and children all quietly sleeping.
And now that I’ve entered what they laughingly refer to as my “golden years” .. I am once again able to shut out the world and crawl into that space that is mine alone.. where I can work at something with such intensity that I don’t hear people calling my name.
And THAT is why there is no PHONE IN THE STUDIO!!!

And that is our gain here on redbubble!! Your work and talent is truly amazing.
Nicely written and I suspect it echoes the thoughts of many artists. The great thing is that while it is a solitary passtime, one of its main pleasures is sharing it with others. In you case, it’s our great pleasure.
LOL to the NO PHONE IN STUDIO!!! dont blame ya!! I have the tv or music on for background noise myself. I go stir crazy if I dont have a noise in the background!! Keep up the good work Barb!
I usually have headphones on but there are days when “silence” is what I really need.. weird huh..

Great I love the way you put that in there… God that Phone…
Ah hahaha. Yeh, I hear that!
I know it’s not quite the same thing Barb….because I am not an artist, but I lose myself in my gardening – no phones in the garden HE HE!!!!!!!
You mean you don’t have your little cell phone with you??? Shame shame shame… tee hee..

lol, oh and I HATE it when the phone rings grrrr, lol. I don’t have a house big enough to hide away in but doesn’t matter, I get the job done eventually.
Hugs
The key is HEADPHONES!! That way you could be in the livingroom and still hear nothing. Works for me!!
