FEATURES: GEMS; Our K9 Friend;
After having to put my Max to sleep back in November, I didn’t know if it would be such a good idea to have another dog. It would be hard to repeat perfection. I didn’t really feel the need and wasn’t looking.
Then yesterday (01-07-12) dawned and I reminded Clay that he had said that we could go to the kennel and “look” at what they had.
I had no intention of getting a dog.. until we saw him!
We had a little “meet and greet” and asked about him. The gentleman said he was about a year and a half old, already fixed (so there would be no wait), and appeared to be a purebred Shiba Inu. To which I said.. cool.. let’s take him home!!
So.. I now have a new best friend that I will have to learn about. I’ve already surmised that he probably has been around kids.. and is an escape artist (already got out of our fenced yard once) – which is probably why he was found on the street.
There will be more pictures of him but it’s hard to get him to stand still!!!! More energy than that dumb pink bunny!!!

Beautiful Dog Barb
Congrats!!! I lost my beloved beagle, Lucy, in October and shortly thereafter found and rescued my bassett hound, Buddy. It has been a real adventure. He, too, is an escape artist!! I feel for you sister!!! LOL LOL LOL

A new dog is always an adventure. There’s so much you have to learn about the do’s and don’ts that it requires a good mind.
He’s very quick and silent. You can’t hear him moving around the house.. he’s loving.. and patient.. so I’ll just keep watching and learning. So far no real minus’s.. except for the “escape” part. My husband went around the whole fence yesterday and fixed all the escape routes..

Barb….congratulations and well done on adopting a Rescue dog. He looks stunning. Shiba’s are rather different in temperament I gather so it should be a an adventure for you.
I’ve been reading up on the breed and it does say they are very loyal and intelligent – I hope I can match him with that. He’s a sweety though, so the job won’t be a burden.
