Tigger

Tigger

This is a 16×20 pastel portrait of Tigger, one of the residents of Noah’s Lost Ark Animal Sanctuary. Original is unavailable.
His history is not pleasant.. he was kept in a small concrete enclosure for 9 years. After coming to the sanctuary he would lunge at the fence whenever a man would come near. He would also respond that way if the man happened to be holding anything in his hands. He really did not know what grass or kindness was until his arrival at NLA.
Regretably he died in 2004 from what they believe was a stroke. At least his last couple of years were a definite improvement over all those that came before.
I truly hope that another message comes through.. that these animals DO NOT MAKE GOOD PETS.. that’s why places like Noah’s are in existence. If people would just think before they buy that cute LITTLE cub.. life would be easier on all of us especially the animals. After all.. they didn’t ask to be in the situation they are.. and there are far to many unscrupulous people out there that are in it for the money..
At least with education, we might make a little difference.. even if we save just one animal.. it’s a beginning!!
All proceeds from any sales will be donated to Noah’s Lost Ark Sanctuary for the care and feeding of the animals.

Straight to my favourites Barb, and I have looked at the sites you recommended. The lives that these majestic creatures had to suffer doesn’t bear thinking about. Thank God for these wonderful organisations.

Barb – he looks so sad! But beautiful nevertheless. What would these animals do if there were not unselfish people to set up sanctuaries for them. They do such a wonderful job.

So very beautiful, dear Tigger. You bring animals you paint and draw a fine dignity, equal to their stature. I see the bars in his eyes, the suspicion in his muzzle. He may not have fully understood the gentle freedom of his last years, but he had them, out of danger and away from cruelty. It’s a lovely portrait indeed.

Man has got to be the most varied (in character) creature on the planet. From the ones that can inflict such cruelty to the ones that can portray and understand such beauty (you and all of us here!) I thank God that I am in the latter group, I pity the others and I cry for the creatures at their mercy. Barb, thank you for your beautiful work :)

It breaks my heart to read stories like Tigger’s, what Mankind do to innocent creatures. At least he enjoyed a better life in his last years in teh wonderful sanctuary you support. This is a beautiful tribute to a soul that suffered when it ought have been free and wild.

Thank you for adding this emotive story along a most loving rendition of Tigger’s and your pledge to Art for Conservation.
