-The bird was named by John James Audubon after his friend Edward Harris.
- They are social birds. They generally hunt together. Some young will stay with the family for 3 years.
-The family consists of a female (the alpha) and several male birds.
-They live to be 15-20 years old.
-They are carnivores and prey on rabbits, rodents, and other birds and lizzards.
-They are found in semi-arid habitats.
