Green Valley, United States

Artist's Description

The Great Horned Owls are found throughout North America. They have adapted to many different places and climates. They can be seen in habitats from dense forests, deserts, and plains to city parks. They can vary in color from reddish brown to a grey or black and white. Their name is derived from the tufts of feathers that look like horns. Their activity usually begins at dusk. Both male and female can become very aggressive towards intruders duing nesting. The nesting season begins in January or February when the males and females hoot at each other!
