Ostrich, taken at Werribee Open Range Zoo – Melbourne Australia
Part of the package at Werribee Zoo is a tour on a bus with the Ranger. This guy planted himself in front of the bus and refused to move. I’m glad he did, it allowed me to take this image.
The shot was taken through the front window of the bus, he wanted in. He pecked at the bus and then proceeded to swollow as if he had actually eaten something. The ranger informed us that Ostriches have a brain a 1/3 of the size of their eye, and this one acted accordingly. It was a great experience.
