Do you shoot in RAW cos you are not a good photographer?

I was thinking the main reason I shoot in raw is to make HDR photos but to a lesser reason it is to let me `fix` my photos later in photoshop…...

About 1 year ago i was shooting in raw more and more so i can `fix` my photos.
So now as a rule i shoot in JPG unless I really dont want to mess up my photo like a wonderful sunset In a part of australia which is hard to get too.

this makes me pay attention more to the photos that i,m taking at the time and teachers my to learn how my camera works better.

As i have just found out that with stronger telly lens i need to stop my camera down about .7 stops to get a nice rich photos and push my satuation to `more colour`
and i know when i get my new dream camera the mighty D300 I will have to relearn again. But for me that part of the fun in a way . Playing with new toys.

Do you shoot in RAW cos your not as good as you hope to be like me?

When your camera compresses the native RAW format, it loses detail. It also processes the image according to your camera settings.

I shoot in RAW, because it allows me to perform this processing my way, rather then the camera’s way.
