One Tough Sheepdog ~ Australian Shepherd ~ oil paintingby Barbara Applegate
This Painting is of a Working Trial Champion Australian Shepherd, she was the sister of my first working stockdog her name was “Catdog” she is shown working working her stock with great skill. She lived (1988 – 2008) and worked in Applegate, Oregon. This very cute little Australian Shepherd on late late afternoon is showing very strong herding and working ability, pushing a loose sheep back into the flock. The sheep of course had a different idea in mind, its what you might call a CLASH OF WILLS but we all know the little stock dog will win in the end.
Original Oil painted on 11" X 14" stretched canvas created in my Grants Pass, Oregon Studio

Great work and great story behind it! Yes, we all know the dog will win, but it is fun to watch the sheep struggle for independence even though they would be better off, and happier with their flocks! I’ve seen this skill a few times with different types of livestock and am always impressed..even if I know how it will end up :)
Thank You so much for your coments. I’m in total Awe of a good working dog, you can see the wheels turning in their heads.
Love this painting Barbara, you are very talented, I wish I could paint but think I will stick to my camera. Congratulations on the feature also, it wasn’t that long ago that you posted on my page that you hoped one day to get bragging rights and then you get it, well done my friend.
Thanks so much for you very kind words. Your positive feed back is very nice to receive thanks for taking the time to leave positive feedback
