Founded in 1448 this Franciscan abbey is situated in the ground of Muckross house near Killarney, County Kerry, Ireland. It was occupied until 1652 when it was sacked and burned by Cromwellian force. The abbey reportedly has the oldest growing tree in Ireland, a yew that was planted at the abbeys founding

    Looks small for a doorway (to me), but it’s a lovely shape :) The stone’s a nice grey colour too.
