Belconnen

For all of the kangaroos and joeys being killed as I write!!

Belconnen

Not long ago I felt the warmth of sun upon my back
Oblivious of plans for my demise.
I’d hop down to the waters edge
Along that well worn track
With kangaroos of every shape and size.

I saw the barricades go up but didn’t understand
The fear I felt that spread throughout the mob
With ears erect they’d stand and watch
The taking of our land
And saw these killers carry out the job

But just today all hell broke loose they came to chase us down
With lethabarb exterminating roos
I saw my mother killed today
And stand here all alone
So now I know that soon it’s me they’ll chose

There’s no sun now the night has come, I wait until the dawn.
And yes I fully understand my fate
For I am at the mercy
Of needles cruelly drawn
No mercy here for me, but only hate.

For this atrocity never to happen again.

Forget not, stand up and make compassion a sronger force than brutal ways.

    Rest in peace dear friends
