BEACON

I have been your beacon for so very long
You life’s sustainer
Your protector
I have been your counselor
The one to whom you have been calling out to
Over and over, and over, and over again
- in your time of need
When you saw no hope,
When you hurt,
and you needed direction

But, now that you have your wings
And you think you can fly alone
You deny my existence
Except for those times when you are
caught up,
boxed in.
- in a dark place with no light,
no open doors for you to escape.

You call on me
Because you know in the depths of your soul
I am still your beacon of hope
You know,
I am still here
Watching for you,
waiting for you,
with my arms open wide
To receive you back
Like a mother-hen would her chicks who have strayed away
and have grown hungry,
unable to feed themselves
