DARKENED PLACE

I enter the darkened place
The putrid smell of death and decay permeates the air
A mesh of cobwebs holds me in place
I struggle
And struggle to free myself
I see the light, the glorious light
No more than a pinhole
So far away from me
But, I struggle to get there
A’ las,
I break away and run to the light before it fades away
Spidery hands, claws, brush against me, trying to hold me back
I fight them off
I am there at last
Entering the light leaving behind the putrid smell of death and decay which threatened to engulf my soul
I plunge into the light and my magnificent wings unfold and flap about taking me further and further away from the darkened place.
I sail with the wind
I dance with heavenly souls
Far above the encumbrances of earthly desires.
