Go Wash Your Hands

I’m so tired of walking on this thin line

There seems to be nothing holding it together

When I look down there is nothing but a bottomless pit that goes on and on for god knows how long

I just stand there like a statue, my head up high, shoulders back, back straight and my eyes forward

There is nothing but dirt and filth surrounding you now, who can even tell your truth from your lies, and after all you are practiced in the art a deception

I close my eyes to try and see the truth that is being blanketed over all of faulty eyes, I try to tell myself it isn’t so, but it is all too clear that the shameless and the shameful are all covered in the same disguises

Chasing glimpses of what remains like a fool, only to come up empty handed

The truth lies on this tiny wire

The truth divides

Haven’t you learned by now?

The truth divides

All the things you said up on that thin line, you came undone

I wanted to walk away

Then I was afraid of what the consequence would bring

My stomach turned to knots, my mouth filled with cotton and my courage had decided it would be humorous to take the day off

That day has passed

Today is a new day and I refuse to stand here frozen any longer

The truth divides fact from fiction, you can no longer burry your blood stained hands in your pockets, for there are no pockets large enough to conceal that much damage and deceit.
