How do sellers sell?
Hello,
Over the weekend we ran a survey of 583 sellers on RedBubble – asking them what they did to help generate sales. The response rate was terrific – just over 46% of folks have responded with more responses still rolling in. So I think the sample size is large enough for us to draw some meaningful conclusions. We divided the responses into two categories – t-shirt sellers and art sell…
Profile Pictures (Avatars)
We’re in the middle of a substantial upgrade to the ‘plumbing’ of RedBubble. Most of the time this upgrade work is invisible, but coming up in a few days is something you will notice. We are going to start using square profile pictures (avatars) across the site.
You may have noticed that profile pictures are square in most parts of the site already – your comments, favorites list, the foru…
HomePage
A few months ago we tested out a new homepage design … that was an interesting process and we’re looking at the homepage again now. The homepage has a multitude of different audiences – which makes it a difficult page to design. The audiences include:
- Prospective members
- Prospective buyers
- Existing me…

Challenging oneself ...
Hello,
I’m introspective by nature. What this means is that I like to regularly stop and challenge what I’m doing and why. And I think I’ve brought a little of this introspection to RedBubble. Over the last two weeks the team has been challenging our thinking about community and culture. What sort of culture do we have and is it the culture we’d like to foster? It’s been a great proces…
Home Page Experiment
Over the last month we’ve been running an A:B test on a new homepage design. An A:B test is where you simultaneously support two different pages and see which one performs better.
We decided to be much more explicit in targeting new members on one version of the homepage – providing a rough outline of the benefits of joining RB and providing a clear link to join RedBubble. The process of …
A test promotion program
A couple of weeks ago we ran a test promotion program. We sent out two e-mails – the first was a generic free shipping e-mail and the second was personalised for an individual artist. About 75 folks from the sales group participated in the program. The two e-mails are shown below:

Stats on RedBubble Visitors and Views
Hi,
I thought you might be interested in some random stats on visits and views to RedBubble in the month of July:
- New visitors: 1.160 million
- Returning visitors: 1.095 million
Note that the returning visitor number is not unique returning visitors. If you return ten times in a month then you’ll be counted ten times. The number of unique visitors was 1.259 million – so subtractin…
Survey results - Where have you gone?
Hi,
RedBubble’s a big community and there is some natural turnover in the community. From all that I’ve read this is to be expected – people move on, interests change, family commitments take priority, et cetera. When I reflect on my own personal journey this is certainly true – I used to play a lot of team sport, now I’m just too busy.
But I’ve still been curious to better understand…

There’s a post in the feedback area about a new t-shirt preview. We’ve been working on one for a while – so I …
