This one looks almost as if he’s in the middle of a forest fire. It’s dramatic, but a shock in thumbnail until you click to see the full image closely. I live in the Pac NW, and this is almost exactly how it looks when we see deer backed by a wildfire. It’s a beautiful, dramatic image, though. I’m glad I came to investigate.

I once had an experience similar to the scene depicted here, walking through the Black Forest with my grandfather. I have never forgotten the moment the stag, standing in a clearing with the sun spilling over him, made eye contact with me. I was only 11 & I am now in my 40’s, my grandfather is long gone. This evokes such wonderfully warm, nostalgic memories for me. Magnificant, when art can evoke such longing.
