It’s funny, the germ of this drawing has been in my mind for a few days now. Then tonight, this self-harm challenge was announced. The challenge asked for the exact thing the germ meant to me…why do we hurt ourselves? Why do we have so many ways, and so many excuses, for hurting ourselves? Such desperation, for fleeting moments of pleasure or as justifications, means for grandiose and ridiculous endings…is it any different from a rabbit severing his own leg to make a lucky rabbit’s foot for himself…?
