Mount Buffalo National Park, Victoria, AUSTRALIA

Decided to venture down to one of my favourite Australian National Parks, Mt Buffalo, to hopefully do some hiking, landscape and wildflower photography, and we packed a picnic for dinner and also planned to stay for some sunset photography. Well, as usual, my luck for photography excursions and holidays was horrible and it was extremely cold, windy and rained on an off all day. I guess the silver lining was these foggy and wet conditions through up some nice moody scenes and were also good for photographing waterfalls, if there actually was any water in them of course ;) which there was barely a trickle in most of them. Oh well, I like this image. Crystal Brook Falls tumbling into the mist of the Mount Buffalo Gorge, around 1337 metres up Mt Buffalo.

I like this photo too! Can definitely identify with having preconceived ideas of what one will photograph then the weather and light never seems to co- operate!! Went to Mt Buffalo about 13 years ago, in my “point and shoot” days, took lots of pics of bright red parrots.

  • thanks for the comment Karine, sorry for the late reply. Yes there are many of those “red parrots” up at Buffalo, they would be Crimson Rosellas, or perhaps the very attractive King Parrots. But the Rosellas are generally the ones that you see hanging around the picnic tables in larger numbers! And yeh, the light and weather certainly seem to never co operate with me!

Nice image Cameron, the fog always adds a bit of atmosphere to an image.
