Simon’s Town, Cape Town, Western Cape, SOUTH AFRICA

Simon’s Town , sometimes spelled Simonstown, is a town near Cape Town, South Africa (officially part of the city), which is home to the South African Navy. It is located on the shores of False Bay, on the eastern side of the Cape Peninsula. For more than two centuries it has been an important naval base and harbour (first for the Royal Navy and now the South African Navy). The town is named after Simon van der Stel, an early governor of the Cape Colony.
Established in 1680, it is the third oldest town in South Africa.

we drove past there but didnt stop in – looks like a neat place from this pic – nice work mate !

  • Thanks Dean, we hardly stopped there at all. We stayed over the other side of the hill at a place called Scarborough, spent most of our 3-4 days on the cape Peninsula exploring the Cape Point area. It’s a popular spot though!
