broken things

broken things belongs to the following groups:

All Things Poetic, Artistic, Philosophical, Graphic Scratch and WMG

the pavement glitters
empty and sprawling
through the blocks
of metal buildings
twisting away at
ninety degrees
every three hundred feet
carving out square
hallways of concrete
pathways for wheels
made from rubber
black as the tar
bandages concealing its wounds
cracked in the heat
of the sun
stretching against itself
it runs from the mountains
to the sea
dissolving into sand
a million tiny fragments
of imagination
spread by the whispers of the wind
follow the roads
made of broken things
rocks and diamonds and
bones
and cracked sea shells
pressed into the rest
shattered houses for
little sea souls
crumbled up and sprinkled on top
like it’s some sort of celebration
a party for the progress
of people
they catch the light
in the morning
and just before night
from the sun and the moon
and the electric street lamps
throwing it back and forth
through the air
to the sea
calling out
‘remember
do not let us be forgotten
we belong to you
we will return
someday
remember’
