Thank you. There were so little other than yellow colours that I changed it to just yellow since your kind comment. That way I could add two more similar pictures in the description. Hope you still like it. Did you notice the signs for “open” and “close” (oop en toe) in Afrikaans at the bottom?
Oh! I did see the words but could not place them – now they suddenly make sense. I once bought a 2nd hand Afrikaans children’s book – I found it harder to read than I expected, but fun, and gradually more things started springing into place as it were, as I was finding patterns for how Afrikaans is still related to Dutch. Of course it helped that it was actually an interesting story that once I’d started I wanted to finish.

Afrikaans is a very peculiar language with just enough words in common so that Iwe can just understand Dutch if spoken very slowly. There are also common Dutch words that we consider very rude and many hilarious stories of misunderstanding.
