This security guard at the V&A Waterfront, Cape Town, probably thought I took a picture of him but he was only partially right. I have noticed the shadows of this tree on the building for a long time and wanted to use it in a HDR experiment and he provided the perfect opportunity. In the first set of three exposures he didn’t see me, so I took more care with the composition and this is the result after tone mapping in Photoshop CS5 Merge to HDR Pro when he did see me.
He now joins the series of Guards and The caption is in the picture

Digital photography is doing for photography what the piano did for keyboard music. You can still play music composed for the harpsichord on the piano but not the other way around.

Funny how the guy is almost disappearing in the dappled light!

  • Yes, if he wore that light grey and green camouflage he would disappear completely. Maybe I should do a black & white version. (Heard the one about the guy who went shopping for camouflage pants but he couldn’t find any?)

  • As a result of your comment, I replaced the picture in black & white. (Maybe it should be grey & white)

Oh, yes! Now he’s almost disappeared. :) I definitely prefer this version.

    Love the shadows!

  • Thanks. I changed it to black & white after a comment by Marjolein above. I will be looking out for more shadows.
