The first Ferris wheel was the American equivalent of the French Eiffel tower but the original obviously didn’t survive. This one was initially erected in a parking lot near the V&A Waterfront, Cape Town, just before the soccer World Cup.
It was moved to a new site right at the centre of the harbour and was still under construction with my last visit.
