Waiting by awefaul

I kept on looking at this picture and asked “Black & white or colour?” before I remembered that with digital photography the answer could be “Black & white and colour”.
When I did some pottery there were people who seem to think that if it was handmade it should look handmade. Fair enough, but it isn’t a rule. In the same way the temptation with HDR is to show that the picture went through tone mapping.
Hopefully these five exposures taken in a second with the camera supported by a handrail and processed with Photomatix shows only increased detail in the shadows and highlights.
Oh, and it was taken at Canal Walk Mall, Century City, near Cape Town.

Digital photography is doing for photography what the piano did for keyboard music. You can still play music composed for the harpsichord on the piano but not the other way around.

When I saw this I thought: I wonder if that’s Faul’s!! Love the tilt.

  • Thanks Elizabeth, it is such a compliment you make me blush.

kewl shot … heaven knows how you avoid the security to take you Canal Walk shots as I always get caught and scolded like a child LOL Off there now to do get some groceries so will try again : )

  • Thanks Heather. Two things: By the time I lift the camera I have checked my setting and know how I want it framed so I work very fast, and I am invisible. Watch out, I might take some pictures of you for the “Photographer in action” group.
