Waterfront reflections by awefaul

The V&A Waterfront in Cape Town is a place of great diversity. It means different things to the tourists, workers, merchants, sailors or casual visitor like myself. This picture shows the elusive fleeting, mysterious and glamorous attraction or is just a shop dummy in a window reflecting Table Mountain, depending on how you choose to look at it.
HDR with three handheld RAW pictures in Photomatix and a lot of additional work with layers in CS4.

Digital photography is doing for photography what the piano did for keyboard music. You can still play music composed for the harpsichord on the piano but not the other way around.

HOW do you always come up with pictures where there is so much to see, and new things all the time. This one seems like you have actually glued 4 or 5 different shots together and managed to make all of them transparent so they blend magically into one gorgeous theatrical vaudeville image.

    Very beautiful!!

  • HDR changed the way I see. You know, “If you have a hammer, everything looks like a nail” kind of thing. In fact, there are three pictures in one and the final does not look remotely like any of the four originals. Glad you like it.

Great compilation. You did a really nice job with this! :-)

  • Thank you so much. I was surprised about how much detail I could find in the shadows and highlights.

What an interesting shot! I like the juxtaposition of the waterfront reflection on the costumed mannequin!

  • Thank you very much. The reflections were very faint and I was, pleasantly, surprised about how much I could bring out.
