Ahh, Greece. Land of the free, home of the brave. Free thinkers in Athens, brave soldiers in Sparta. This place is so damn great, I hope some civilization in the far-flung future will imitate it’s glory and beauty. I’m sure such a nation would be vast, larger perhaps than this entire continent we have yet to explore. From one coast of their bountiful land to the other, I’m sure these fair ones will conquer many nations and tribes! I foresee vast enlightenment among these simple people when brought under the fold of democracy.
Oh, Gods! I do hope these men of the future (for surely it will be only the men among them who are strong and wise) will have foresight enough to keep their emperor in control over their senate. Such squabblers, such loud old men! Although their usefulness is logical and necessary to this golden age and the next; with simple gifts and offers from the most wealthy among their representees, senators can be made to perform delightful tasks on behalf of the people.
Although I do believe the emperor of such a vast land and noble people should be ill-advised to assume the role of judge; no, he would be far too busy with other affairs of his noble kingdom. Myself, I think it would be a simple enough task to hand-select say…nine wise councilors to bring justice to the people in the emperor’s stead.
And to imagine, if we will, a leader chosen by all the people of the realm instead of a mind-numbing dictator led by the same exact ideals as his father… but what heresy, to suggest such a thing to my fellow Greeks! No, let the wiser men of this new age centuries from now debate it amongst themselves.
For now, I should enjoy what a bountiful and glorious treasure this nation is! Surely these future men will have no time for drunken festivities or good-natured violence or unhindered sexual practices. They will be far more concerned for the good and righteous cause of their land and their noble people. No time for such frivolities, oh no. No no. Never.
