Photo taken at the Jukani Sanctuary close to Mossel Bay. The Caracal (also known as the African Lynx) is a fiercely territorial medium-sized cat. The Caracal takes its name from its black ears. In Swahili it is called the simbamangu.
The Caracal is almost impossible to see in the wild, not because there are very few of them, but because it hides extremely well. Unfortunately, they are often shot be farmers.
It was not easy to take a photo of these gorgeous animal as it keep hiding in the grass!

Great capture, nice description too.Love the clarity of focus against the savannah grass, though I can clearly see why they are hard to ‘shoot’!
