Oil painting of Loop Head Lighthouse, Clare, Ireland. This beautiful old lighthouse, was built in 1884 and automated in 1991. Situated at the tip of the Loop Head peninsular on high cliffs, the views from the lighthouse are stunning. One of the places to visit on the Wild Atlantic Way.
The lighthouse is open to the public from April to October and when the weather is good, you can see south as far as the Blasket Islands and north to the Twelve Pins in Connemara. The flowers in the foreground are ‘sea pinks’ (Armeria Maritima) which grow all along the wild coast of Ireland.
