Hydrangeas from my garden. Acrylics on canvas 16 × 20 inches.
I love Hydrangeas. Cheerful, big blooming bushes of pinks, blues, purples and white.

Ahhh, makes me think of Christmas, my favourite time of year, A truely beautiful piece of work Avril!!
Hi Macky, ou vriend!! Ja, Krismis Rose, soos my ouma hulle genoem het… Huge bushes in our gardens over Christmas time in SA!
A gorgeous painting.
Thanks so much Irene! :-)
Ah one of my fave flowers of all time……has always fascinated me how they can be so many colours on the one bush. Ma used to say….put a rusty nail in the pot and it will turn blue from the iron in the nail :o) Lovely lovely painting, you have done them proud!
Saleire, you are too kind! Apparently, that is very true. Something about acidity and iron in the soil determines the colours of the flowers.
Avril, Looking good from where I’m sitting, and I really mean sitting, as I have barely lifted my ass since you last spoke to me!! Well done Pauline
ROFLMAO Pauline!!! You better get working woman! Thanks for the kind comment! :_)
Gorgeous…my favourite shrub….blue won’t grow in my garden because of the soil, but I have every other colour…not an easy flower to paint…
Thank you Janis! Hydrangeas are also my favourite. The easiest to put in a vase too! They form naturally pretty bouquets without any effort.
Never painted those….but I really should try it some time…these look wonderful. I like the reflection on the table…it suits the vase and the flowers.
Arie, a filbert (cat’s tongue) brush does all the hard work… ;-)
