Christmas Greetings to all my friends

My dear, wonderful RB friends

I wish you all a wonderful, peaceful and blessed Christmas, surrounded by your loved ones and may each and every one of your wishes come true in the new year.

Thank you all so much for the support, kindness and friendship you have shown me here. I appreciate it so much and really wish I had more time to spend here but things have just caught up with me over the last weeks.

Your comments, your kindness, the sharing and seeing your gorgeous works mean more to me than you will ever know..

So, a very humble and grateful ‘Thank You’… and Merry Christmas!

With all my love and appreciation

Proud and happy!!!

One of my students, Bridget, has just uploaded her first painting and I cannot wait to see what else she has done! I feel like a mother watching her child take its first steps!! Oh, what a happy day! Please take a look at Bridget’s painting!!

My Dear RB Friends

I cannot believe that it has been such a long time since last I was here. I am so sorry for neglecting you all but please be patient with me as I try to catch up with so much work that. I finished two commissions and still have lots more work to do so I really need to discipline myself.

Not that I am complaining… not at all!!! I love working (is being an artist work or just lucky to do what you love doing so much)… But I do miss you and I must also apologise to my groups for being a very bad host in this time. I hope to have a little more time next week.

thank you to the person who bought a print of Kilkee Cliffs as well as Lisa for buying prints and cards of Boys just want to have fun… Also, to everyone who has commented on my paintings and the groups who have featured …

Away for a while

My dear RB friends:

I must apologise for neglecting you so much… and thank you all for the wonderful comments and support. I really appreciate it so much.

So please forgive me as I MUST start working on arranging my artcourses for the new year. So much to do and as we all know, RB is so addictive that I could spend all my time here and get nothing else done… and we all know what that feels like!!!

I will pop in as often as I can to see that my RB groups are going well and to help with the hosting so I will not be going anywhere – just trying to discipline myself to do other work too!!!

Love you all!!!!

Silver Linings!!!

Even the darkest cloud has a silver lining – today I am blessed with beautiful silver linings…

To the wonderfully, kind person who bought a card of my Little House, thank you so much!! I hope you know just how much you brightened my day!! Thank you!

AND… to the Real Life Art Group …. wow…. thank you for featuring Boys just want to have fun !!! It’s only been on since yesterday so how lovely to have another silver lining to my day!!

And it just feature in Prize Challenges too!!! Oh wow!

Thank you so much!!

Oh boy!!! I am so behind!!

First, please let me say how sorry I am that I could not comment on all the lovely work on my watchlist… besides being ill over the last week, I have been trying to catch up with my work whenever I could move my fuzzy head enough to see properly!

So, to everyone who has had featured work, sold their art, wrote beautiful stories – my heartfelt congratulations!!

I, too, have had features to brighten up my day!!! Thank you so much to all the groups for featuring my paintings!!! You cannot know just how much I appreciate it !!

New Group: Realist Paintings About Water

Realist Paintings About Water

From myself and James, we are happy to announce our new group for artists who love to paint water. We hope to see your lovely paintings of that element none of us can live without!! A celebration of Water, in all its wondrous glory.

Please see our new group, read our flowing guidelines and flood our group with gushes of paintings! Trickles and dribbles also welcome.

Water, the Hub of Life.
Water is its mater and matrix, mother and medium.
Water is the most extraordinary substance!
Practically all its properties are anomolous, which enabled life to use it as building
material for its machinery.
Life is water dancing to the tune of solids.

Oh wow.... more features!

Looking at the past few days in the featured list I see that four of my paintings were featured. Thank you so much to the groups for featuring my work… I am very honoured.

Leopard and Cub – Oil Painting in the African art and writings group as well as my paintings of Zebra Stallions and Elephants – Namib Trek

The start of a few long-term relationships

In between several others as well as my two commissions, these are three of my ‘long-term’ relationships….

I can never just work on one painting at a time, so I have 6 lined up, so to speak, while I also work on the commissions and wait for paint to dry.

These paintings are going to take a lonnnng time but what else can I do for relaxation?? ROFL! I cannot show the commissions until they are finished and that will be in about two months time.

Now, my fun little Vermeer spoof is just that, fun. I don’t want her to look like Vermeer’s famous girl with the pearl earring so I changed some of her features… well, I will see what I feel like as I go along.

The tigers… I have already fallen in love and that will be forever.

New Group: Wildlife and Pet Paintings

Dear Friends

Just a quick note to tell you there is a new group for wildlife and pet artists

I am honoured to have Arie co host this group with me and we will try to get our group streamlined as soon as possible.

Due to other engagements today, it could take some time to get everything ready but we will work on it at every possible moment.

So, please take a look… get out your brushes and paints and start that wildlife or pet painting you have always wanted to do. We have many talented and remarkable wildlife and pet artists on Redbubble and this is the group for you to showcase your love of the subject as well as your talents.

I must leave you now and hope to get back asap…

Days of our Lives... Corny, I know! The hairstyles even more so!

How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.

I love thee to the depth and breadth and height
My soul can reach, when feeling out of sight
For the ends of Being and ideal Grace.
I love thee to the level of everyday’s
Most quiet need, by sun and candle-light.
I love thee freely, as men strive for Right;
I love thee purely, as they turn from Praise.
I love thee with a passion put to use
In my old griefs, and with my childhood’s faith.
I love thee with a love I seemed to lose
With my lost saints, - I love thee with the breath,
Smiles, tears, of all my life! - and, if God choose,
I shall but love thee better after death.

29 Today!!!!! Can you believe it???

No, not features… hahaha (as if!)
Not cards sold (even bigger hahaha)
Not birthdays (the biggest hahaha!)

29 years of being married to my lovely, gorgeous, gentle giant!!

How the years have flown!

So, my apologies for neglecting my dear friends on the bubble…

Besides feeling really ill from the flu… and thus not being able to celebrate although coffee is my favourite beverage anyway, I hope we will have many, many more years together.

And.... another Feature!!

I cannot believe it! On a day when I wake up with the flu, I am so lucky!

A card sale, a feature and then ANOTHER feature! I am flying so high and it’s not cough syrup!!!

Thank you to the Nature’s Wonders Group for featuring my Zebra Stallions!!!

Oh what a day!

Card sold and a feature on Real Life Art!!

I woke up this morning with a thundering headache, a sore throat and the sniffles. Feeling miserable and still had to do some house-cleaning, I come to RB for a quick fix of beautiful art and what do I find???

A card sale and a feature!!! Wow…

Thank you so much for buying my card, Saleire, my sweet, darling friend!!!

And to the Real Life Art Group for featuring my painting of the Rock of Cashel

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

I can bear the headache, sore throat and sniffles now and the miserable cloud has disappeared, thanks to Sal and Real Life Art.

I can’t bear the house chores though!

If you love Irish music...

Irish Music is art in it’s own right. The lyrics are poetry and loved by many all over the world. If ever you come to Ireland, please visit County Clare, the Banner County and home to Irish Trad. Relax in one of our local pubs and enjoy a night of traditional music, a glass of black gold and let your feet tap to sounds of Ceili.
Session in Crotty’s Pub, Kilrush, Co. Clare

I hope these links work and you have lots of joy listening to this little selection of some of my favourite Irish songs:

My absolute, most favourite, lovely, adored Irish song … (I am biased because I LOVE County Clare and this song makes Ireland my home): Paddy Reilly’s version is beautiful

Featured!!! Prayer

Thank you so much to Real Life Art for featuring my painting “Prayer”… I only noticed a few moments ago that my little ‘Sarah’ was featured! Thank you so much!

Missing you all!

Dear Friends

I apologize for my long absence… I have been so very busy over the last few weeks planning and arranging my winter art courses as well as working out the art courses for next year and it has taken all my time and energy. And I am not even all finished yet.

Did not even have the time to do a teeny bit of painting myself and I am suffering from severe painting and redbubble withdrawal symptoms… :-)

Tomorrow I am off to Labasheeda for the day and an art demo and Sunday I hope to finish printing up all the information.

Hopefully, life will return to ‘normal’ (haha! what’s normal?) by next week for a few days and then the art courses begin.

Byron, Arie, Sal and everyone who wrote bmails… I am so sorry if you were worried. Love you all for caring…

Arie and Saleire

What a wonderful day to be on the Bubble! I was busy all morning and afternoon and just popped in for a quick look-see and what do I find???

Two of the sweetest people together!

I am not much of a writer and certainly not a poet, so I hope you like my favourite sonnet by the great Bard himself!!

Sonnet 116
Let me not to the marriage of true minds
Admit impediments. Love is not love
Which alters when it alteration finds,
Or bends with the remover to remove:
O no! it is an ever-fixed mark
That looks on tempests and is never shaken;
It is the star to every wandering bark,
Whose worth’s unknown, although his height be taken.
Love’s not Time’s fool, though rosy lips and cheeks
Within his bending sickle’s compass come:
Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks,
But bears it out…

Catching Up!!

Dear friends

I have been a bit busy and could not get to all the comments and new works on my watch list, so please forgive me if I missed any of your beautiful art. I will try to catch up as much as I can!!!

Card sold!!

Thank you so much, dear Mar! You will never know just how much it means to me!!!
You are so sweet and you made my day… again!!! HUGSxxxxxxx

Irish Toasts to Remember!

Inspired by my friends Ginger, Saleire and all of you who will one day visit Ireland and enjoy magical moments in old castles, green fields and little houses waiting for fish to bite:

May all your dreams come true
and may you eventually end up covered in little folk, like me, which explains my less-than-normal moments:

Always remember to forget
The things that made you sad.
But never forget to remember
The things that made you glad.

Always remember to forget
The friends that proved untrue.
But never forget to remember
Those that have stuck by you.

Always remember to forget
The troubles that passed away.
But never forget to remember
The blessings that come each day.

May there always be work for your hands to do.
May your purse always hold a coin or two.
May the sun always shine warm on your windowp…

Card sold!!! Thank you, Tony!!!

Oh thanks so much, Tony

Its the most wonderful feeling to know that someone wants your art!! Thank you, Tony. When you come to Ireland again… watch out for me waiting to jump out of the bushes and HUG you!!! LOL

Yippeee… you made my day!

So excited!!!

I am bursting with excitement!

I just received a photograph of one of my favourite favourites from a fellow bubble friend… and I need to start preparing my canvas NOW!!!

Not going to say what and who yet! So, if I disappear for a while, please forgive me! Maybe I will do a WIP as I go along!

I gotta PAINT!!!

A message for a very special friend...

Coolart (Rebecca Milne) has been ill for a while now and I think we all know what a special person she is…

Rebecca, I hope you get well soon and that it won’t be long until you can be amongst your friends here again.

Thinking of you, missing you and sending you lots of love and best wishes.

A wonderful new artist

Please meet vbarret

Her art is incredibly beautiful. I am stunned by her ability to paint so beautifully as she is disabled and does her painting by mouth.

I cannot describe how much I admire her. Please visit her and give her a hearty welcome.

Speed Painting - tips

Forget about photographic references.

Paint what is most familiar to you from memory. There is no time to look at photographs.

Use white and black gesso primer to ‘draw’ your idea on the canvas.

While the gesso dries… squeeze out blobs of paint, get your brushes and palette ready and work out what you want to do.

Answer comments on bubble and enjoy some beautiful art here. Make sure you have loads of coffee and visit the loo!

Gesso dry! Cover the canvas with a VERY thin layer of linseed oil.

Have fun!

Photo realistic art!

Thank you, Byron, for showing me one of the most talented artists I have ever seen! I am totally in awe of his work.

I have seen many works of photo realism before. Many lack dimension and depth and is just a copy of a photograph. This work, however, is what photo realism is all about.

And yes, it IS a painting!

These are only a few examples of this brilliant artist’s work… please take a look at his portfolio…. and be stunned.

New Friends to Bubble

Recently, I introduced a few very special friends to Redbubble and if you would be so kind to just say hello it would mean so much to them:

Connie lives in Kilimer, not far from me. She is a very special friend with a heart of gold who will go out of her way to help others. She is a member of the Kilrush Art Group and always has a smile and a word of encouragement for others.

Pauline is also in the Kilrush Art Group and a very special friend. She is very witty and always laughs. Pauline has the patience of a saint, especially with me.

and Pierre
Pierre is a very talented wildlife photographer who joined a few days ago. He is also my son in law and the daddy of my beautiful grandchildren.

Welcome to Connie, Pauline and Pierre. I know you will be so happy here amongst all the ta…

Your comments

Thank you to everyone for all the kind comments and wonderful support. I cannot tell you how much it means to be accepted and acknowledged by the world’s best and most talented artist community.

Kilrush Art Exhibihition

Dear friends

On Thursday, 31st July, Kilrush Art Group (I am a member) will be holding their annual art exhibition in Kilrush and should any of you be in Ireland or visiting Co Clare and of course, be lucky enough to live here, please come along as it is open to anyone.

Our little group of about 15 local artists have lots of fun and show our talents once a year at our exhibition.

I have been ‘disappearing’ on and off for a while now as we prepare for the exhibition as well as working on my art courses. Hopefully, I will be here more often after next week.

Please feel free to contact me should you be interesting in more information about the exhibition.

Thank you

Old Irish Spinner

Thank you very much to the Ireland group for featuring my painting of the Old Irish Spinner!!!

I feel very honoured and my thanks to you for giving me this great privilege.

Co. Clare

Thank you to Mar Silva for buying my first card. I wish I could tell you how much this means to me, especially today. Seeing the comments and feeling that maybe I am doing something right and in some small way making someone happy with my art.

I hope that “Little Sister” gives you great joy, Mar.

I know it seems a bit silly, but of all the things I could and should be doing today, RB is my little haven where I can see so many beautiful creations by wonderfully talented people. Keeping me busy and trying not to think too much.

I got a call from my mom in SA today. She told me that my dad is in hospital and will have an operation tomorrow. He had heart failure. She reassured me that he is ok, he is fine and is being well taken care of – but it’s hard to do anything b…

Thank you

Thank you to everyone for your kind compliments. I wish I had the time to see every work of art on RB because this place is Art Heaven.

I have seen some beautiful art but nothing compares to the talent here.

To my friend Rebecca! Thank you for sharing your dream with me and for knowing that I was reaching out. I would not be here if it were not for you.

And to all the groups that accepted my work: my heartfelt thanks!

My Welcome

Thank you to everyone for the warm welcome. I am in awe of all the beautiful artwork on Redbubble and will spend many happy hours here, enthralled and in art heaven.
