One of the first African oil paintings I did in Ireland. My memories of an African sunset still fresh in my mind, so its probably one of my brightest paintings!

I found this painting and other old paintings stacked against the wall behind my new canvases.

    It was not very popular then either! I actually had the frame repaired for the exhibition. I think I started to forget African sunsets after that.

    Africa is so offen depicted as dry and arid, I love the plush deep green tones in this work shown at the warm light end of the day. Beautifully done.

    Thank you, Jim! I know, mostly we see dry and arid scenes of Africa! But some areas are quite tropical and after the rainy season, veld blossoms and there is food for all creatures.
