Wildlife, landscapes, seascapes and Irish life paintings in oils and acrylics by county Clare, Ireland, artist Avril Brand

Originally from South Africa, we have been living in Ireland for many years. I am a self-taught artist. I started painting in the 1980’s at first using acrylics and several years later found the medium I love to work in: oils.

Nowadays, I only work in oils and love the rich, creamy texture and brilliant colours.

We live in a very peaceful and beautiful rural area of county Clare, close to the sea and amongst the friendliest people in the world.

Although I enjoy painting landscapes, seascapes and especially Irish Life, my greatest passion is for wildlife. Conservation and animal welfare is extremely important and nothing upsets me more than animal abuse or the needless slaughter of wildlife.

Please visit my website and blog for more photographs of my art. Unfortunately, most of my paintings are long gone and I regrettably never took good quality photographs of them.

Thank you

In memory of my friend, John Quinn
In memory of my friend, John Quinn / who died tragically on Sunday 11 July 2010. John was a kind, soft-spoken and generous man and I am so sorry that he will never get to see this painting that was done from one of his beautiful photographs. / John was a talented photographer and his passing is a great loss, not only to his friends and family but also to County Clare. We will always remember you…
