my covert operation
to dig my way out
infested, diseased
the maggots cling and feast
on their possible gain
food

they must survive

the firefly’s sparkle tease
hide and seek

consumes
grief a veritable punch line
I see the joker’s face
in the moon that mocks me
relative beauty has flown

the falling of stars
even the jeering moon
has morphed into insidious inclinations
it is rarely fully lit
and often disappears at times
have you checked your mirror lately
mine is cracked
a new one somehow…distorted
welcome to my funhouse
it is a hazy maze
mingled with dragonfly tears

them maggots have a way of cleansing the ol’ gangrene. there’s supposed to be a purpose for everything but it’s hard to see behind the reasoning at times. this went in deep like a knife and turned a little, makes me want to change the world and I can’t.
