the truth
we are all liars
the wind encircles
and ensnares
our contemplation
theories and conclusions
become confused
reality dislodges
false rationalizations distort
we are the leaves
tossed hither and there
to land haphazardly
where they will
at times
I do not mind
the invigorating ride
but I do not pretend
there is meaning
in what becomes of me
eventually
you too will be nothing more
than the wind’s will yourself
spinning dizzied
in control of nothing

I think it’s all a matter of a need to construct a self image with limited resources. Do you choose to remember yourself as the milk you spit or the cow you milked? Sometimes a lie is a commitment. I told every potential employer that “I could do the Job”! Usually I was right but I lied. Sometimes a lie is an act of good faith; as in “Yes, I know your a good person”. I think the ability to lie is the inevitable by-product of a human imagination. I wouldn’t have it any other way.
So yes, you are right, We are all liars. Now I’m about to catch a play were I hope they do it best.
