Lost In Boxes by

Acryllic and on canvas.

An abstract piece that illustrates the issue of museums and their right to display artifacts taken from their native land.
The image on the left of the work is an ‘African’ elephant spirit mask, used in annual rituals by the Dogon tribe. It once held much power to the tribe but was stolen from them and now resides in a glass box in the British museum where it is nothing more than an item of interest – Its power. Lost in a box.
