Game of Kings Project by Steven  Austin

Posted on July 07, 2011

As some of you will be aware I have been in the midst of Game of Kings fever for over a year now. Along with 21 other fellow bubblers I have been scribbling away and creating some of the finest fantasy illustration artwork this side of Mordor. The illustrations follow the story of two armies, one black, one white locked in battle on a huge chess board battle field. Written by the talented Danny Nolan the story is an epic one and something you should most definitely check out should you not have done so already.

The artwork and stories have been released over a period of weeks every Monday, Wednesday and Friday – however the series has taken a break for a couple of weeks allowing time for all involved to regroup and have a breather. However tomorrow will see the story continue and so now is the perfect opportunity to get on board and check out the story so far ready to pick up where we left off.

To wet your appetite I have included below the pieces I have thus far had released for the project.

You can check out the story and corresponding illustrations in all of there glory here

Also find Game of Kings on Facebook and join the group.

Let the battle commence!!

The whole project is a great testament to all involved. From the original crew who created the characters and brought their unique visions to play, Danny’s involvement in helping weave those characters together, and the ‘next wave’ of artists such as yourself, who took what we’ve built and run with it. It’s been pretty bloody inspiring, to say the least.

If it wasn’t for the involement of yourself and the other new bloods I believe the project would never have reached the heady heights it’s enjoying at the moment.
It’s been an absolute pleasure to work with you Steve.

Thanks guys, and the feelings mutual. I’m Just so grateful to have been asked along for what is such a blast. My renewed confidence and improvement in my art is down to the project and feedback received from you all, especially Dan, Si and Nick! So the pleasure is absolutely all mine.
